Description
Central Coast roots-rock ensemble Still Time perfectly embodies the spirit of the American jam band. Though most of their songs clock in well below the six-minute threshold that countless other likeminded groups seem intent on eclipsing, Still Time's musical content is as open-aired and carefree as a summertime music festival by the river, which is probably why the group’s newest album, Stream of Consciousness, depicts exactly that on its cover. The recently released sophomore record is laden with songs that celebrate a life without worldly concern, perhaps best realized by the song “9 to 5,” whose lyrics circulate around the mantra “we know when it's time to be working on a 12-pack instead of a 9 to 5.” Of course, Still Time may be the closest glimpse of a cubicle-free existence you'll get, but at least it's nice to know somebody isn't dreading their Monday morning commute.
