Description
8000 years ago, the first spring festivals were thrown by Chinese farmers settling down to plant their field. The joyous, anxious prospect of a new season was a moment worth celebrating. Since then, the festival has become an almost universal practice among farming cultures. Spring Festival Silicon Valley promises to bring forth a bountiful harvest of Chinese, Indian, Korean, Flamenco, and Mexican cultural performances. Through artistic expression, the festival celebrates both the Lunar New Year, and the rich culture of this diverse area. Last year's show featured the court dance of the Tang Dynasty, an intricately synchronized Korean drum performance and a 60-foot long fluorescent dragon.
