This free concert includes selections from Porgy and Bess, Russian Sailor’s Dance, Four Finnish Dances, Slavonic Dance No. 8, As Time Goes By, and more.Formed in the summer of 2006, the South Bay Brass is dedicated to presenting high quality brass music, with performances that feature a variety of brass ensembles, from trios to 10-piece brass ensemble in the tradition of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble.
Soloist for the evening will be Jolynda Tresner. Jolynda, a soprano who majored in voice at Boston University, has appeared in many stage productions in Boston, New York, and San Jose. She sang with the Cambridge Symphonic Brass Quintet at Carnegie Hall in 1980, and is often heard as a soloist at the Campbell United Methodist Church. She has sung the premieres of many compositions of her husband, Brian Holmes. She will be singing arrangements for quintet and soprano composed by Brian.
