The incomparable Juanita MORE! joins creative forces with Nathan Rapport, co-creator of Detroit’s popular queer-hipster dance monthly SASS, on Friday, July 17, 2009, to administer to San Francisco’s underground scene a first (and very potent) shot of Detroit-style dance-fun.SMACK! will feature Detroit ex-pat Jason Kendig (Honey Soundsystem – SF), who earned his DJ wings as a resident at Detroit’s legendary (and award-winning) Family party, sharing deck duty with special guest and Detroit tastemaker Chuck Hampton AKA Gay Marvine (Secret Mixes Fixes). For this rare, one-off reunion, the longtime musical partners-in-crime will pay homage to their beloved hometown, the birthplace of techno, by scrounging from the bowels of their dented DJ crates the darkest, dirtiest, “smackiest” beats they can muster.
Hedonists, to the dance floor please! Hang-ups, inhibitions and unnecessary clothing should be checked at the door.
