Description
Coombs work is distinguished by the application of acrylic paint in marks or 'dots'. She uses a palette knife only, enjoying the exploration of new ways to use thistraditional tool. Her unique paint application creates a pixilated surface pattern, which is further emphasized by the subject matter of light and color in trees. Her observations of the forests led her to disover that each area has it's own color palette which depends largely on the varieties of species it contains.
"I wanted to capture these moments in my paintings. There is a quiet hopefulness at the time of dawn that I find promising. The return of light reflects a renewal of my spirit, as if to mentally cleanse the past and welcome in the future.
