DETAILS: Love Evolution may have been temporarily silenced, but that does not mean that San Francisco won’t enjoy music, dance, and celebration. Rather, Sunset Promotions will honor the event by hosting an urban edition of their patented Silent Frisco outdoor dance party. Using patented “Silent Events” headphones, the entire musical performance will be broadcast wirelessly to the attendees without being audible to anyone else. With two-channels to choose from, listeners will be able to switch back and forth between dueling Djs, battling for their hearts and minds.
The first two Silent Frisco events took place at the outer edge of the city; Ocean Beach. This Urban Edition pays tribute to LoveEvolution by using the outdoor urban garden at the soon to be christened Jones (620 Jones St @ Geary). This will be the first Silent Frisco event where the location is NOT a secret and with a capacity strictly limited by the 400 headphones available, it is sure to sell out in advance. With an amazing lineup of intercontinental and local talent the concert should be as joyous as it is a poignant tribute to the silenced Parade.
Disco, both new and old will be the central element of the music on October 2.
Headlining the event will be North America’s hottest new disco producer, DJ Neighbour, of Homebreakin Records in Vancouver, Canada. In the past 3 years, the young Canadian producer has put out more than 30 releases on Homebreakin, and several other labels garnering huge acclaim and massive online sales. With a patented sound harnessing old-school disco and reenergizing it with modern production and his own multi-instrumental talents, Neighbour’s tracks are simultaneously accessible and cutting edge. He has gained massive acclaim for his energetic live/dj sets at such seminal electronic festivals as Shambhala, Soundwave, and the Big Bounce.
Motion Potion, Disco Shawn, Jeffrey Paradise, and DJ Centipede of Mophono have all committed their lives to the reinvention of classic dance music. Motion Potion is the funk aficionado and Silent Disco pioneer, whose breakbeat remixes cover everyone from Radiohead to Earth Wind & Fire. Jeffrey Paradise has made the locomotion of San Francisco his personal crusade, with the Paradise Boys, the Rapture, and seminal SF parties like Blow Up and Frisco Disco. Disco Shawn has been the central figure in the re-examination of disco and soulful latin dance music with his Bersa Discos label and Tormenta Tropical parties. DJ Centipede is one of the finest 45’s Djs on gods green earth, and recently showed off his production chops with singles for famed re-boot label Bastard Jazz.
One of the headline sets will be played by a secret surprise guest whose name will not be revealed until attendees arrive on the scene. We could tell you who he is, but then we’d have to kill you, and where’s the fun in that. Just trust that he’s someone who has headlined some of the city’s best clubs and has a major international following of his own. There will also be several more names added to this already stellar lineup so please stay tuned.
