Description

San Francisco Jewish Film Festival Presents three fabulous films about food that are sure to whet your appetite.*

Make Hummus Not War
Filmmaker Trever Graham's humorous journey takes us through the hummus bars and kitchens of Beirut, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and New York. Along the way, we encounter the doyenne of Middle East cuisine Claudia Roden, zealots, Jewish settlers, biblical characters, political activists, chickpea farmers, novelists and Sheiks, for whom hummus is a near religious obsession.

Meathooked!
This documentary about meat chronicles the rise and fall—and rise again—of butchers and butchering. The film goes back in time to the early 19th century and travels forward to the present. It profiles several butchers, three of whom are (non-kosher) Jewish butchers.

Falafel! Give Peas a Chance
Filmmaker Ari A. Cohen leavens to the far reaches of pita heaven to discover the true potential behind the falafel sandwich and its role as a gateway to understanding age-old conflicts and finding peaceful co-existence.
