The Marsh Berkeley is proud to present “Sex, Slugs & Accordion”, an evening of songs with the wild and inimitable Jet Black Pearl (formerly known as Jetty Swart), comedienne, satirist, accordion-playing, tri-lingual (Dutch/French/English) singer-songwriter. Her music style has been described as "a cabaret gypsy party where Nina Hagen, Edith Piaf and Kurt Weill meet” - dramatic, witty, fanciful and flamboyant. One of the songs is about a woman with feathers on her toes who seduces a man with butterflies for hands. Another, a blues meditation, tells the story of Sarah the subway rat who falls in love with the train engineer. And, perhaps the oddest of all, a sensual tale of a hermaphroditic slug! Jetty accompanies herself on the accordion, flute, toy piano, mini music box, kalimba and loop station.
