TOPIC: Foster Program for Pets

The Humane Society Silicon Valley is actively recruiting volunteers to be a part of their Foster Care Programs! As a foster volunteer you will have the opportunity to open your heart and home to those animals most in need. Many of the animals that come into the shelter are too young, too ill, or too under socialized for general adoption. With limited space and the fact that sick animals can expose healthy animals to disease, HSSV does not have the internal resources necessary to care for them all. The solution: Instead of euthanizing all animals that are too young, too ill, or too scared, HSSV offers the Foster Care Program as an alternative!
With the help of wonderful volunteers, these animals are given the opportunity to be raised in a loving home until they are old enough and healthy enough to be placed for adoption in a permanent home. One animal in a foster home, allows for one more to be taken into the Animal Community Center. You can help create that vital link in the network that saves lives in Silicon Valley.

Christina Traughber has had over 12 years of experience in the animal care field, and is the coordinator of the Feline Foster Program. She has trained many volunteers to be successful foster parents and has an expansive knowledge base on both the feline and canine programs. In addition to overseeing the foster care programs, Christina also takes an active part in the Regional Rescue Program at HSSV. She has been to many other local and out of county shelters in an effort to save as many lives as possible.
