Description

K.C. Cole speaks at the Exploratorium, joined by San Francisco Chronicle’s eminent science editor David Perlman, who knew Oppenheimer and the Exploratorium at its founding.

A new biography profiles Exploratorium's fascinating founder Frank Oppenheimer, brother of J. Robert Oppenheimer -- which, he wise-cracked, probably made him the “uncle” of the atom bomb. Like his famous brother, Frank was a brilliant physicist, and also black-listed by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee after the war. Ultimately, he was the guiding genius behind the Exploratorium, the place that started a worldwide revolution in museums and science education.
