Description
San Francisco's favorite historic German restaurant, Schroeder’s, will celebrate the 122nd Oktoberfest - the largest beer festival in the world - with a grand Oktoberfest celebration spanning six consecutive weekends. Founded in 1893, the establishment has a long history of hosting Oktoberfest with authentic Bavarian flair.Join fellow revelers to kick off the event, which will transform Front Street into a massive block party beginning at 3 p.m. with music by Polkalicious at 5 p.m. Sponsored by Hofbräu, the party will feature outdoor grilling and service of classic wienerschnitzel, bratwurst, spätzle and pretzels, along with Hofbräu’s Oktoberfest beer. The outdoor Bavarian beer hall will offer communal tables for outdoor dining and plenty of room for dancing. Also on the menu: Bavarian brews and traditional fare alongside Hofbräu activities, including Polka dancing, stein holding and sausage-eating contests, and the traditional Danish "chicken dance”. Schroeder's own chef, Manfred Wrembel will emcee the event. 21 and over, lederhosen and dirndls are encouraged.
Admission is FREE, while $5 tokens for beer and food can be
pre-purchased by calling (415) 421-4778; will also be available on site. For every $100 in prepurchased tokens, get your own Hofbrau boot to drink from during the festivities.
