Scary Kids Scaring Kids are breaking up! Oh no! Wait, who are they? Oh right, another “it” pop-punk band who blew up and burned out before the mainstream even knew to miss them. Like a lot of people, I first heard the Arizona Warped Tour draftees on a couple of those endless “Punk Goes…” compilations, ripping through a triple-time (but unspectacular) cover of “Losing My Religion” and an inexplicable (but funny) version of “Notorioius Thugs.” Mostly, they sound like a hundred other emo bands, with a tinge of darkwave and a slightly more muscular sound. That was enough to get them a fairly popular, but not enough to mend their tender emo hearts. They more or less made it sounds on their blog like they can’t stand working together anymore, while fans lament losing them too soon online.
