Description
The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce is seeking to recognize outstanding community service and is announcing that nominations for the Saratoga Citizen of the Year and the Saratoga Business Person of the Year are due August 17, 2012.The criteria for the Saratoga Citizen of the Year includes being a Saratoga resident, active in the community, as well as being active in bridging the diversity of Saratoga.
The criteria for the Saratoga Business Person of the Year includes involvement such that the employment or occupation makes the business or employer an asset to the community, must have been in business in Saratoga for at least two years, and must be a current member of the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce.
“The Chamber of Commerce is excited about these two awards—there are so many people who are qualified it will be a tough choice” stated Scott Anderson, Chamber president. “We are looking forward to recognizing these two individuals and their contributions to the community.”
For additional information and criteria, pick up a nomination form at the Saratoga Library, Saratoga Chamber of Commerce (13385 Big Basin Way) or by downloading the form at: http://www.saratogachamber.org. Nominations must be submitted on or before August 17, 2012.
The winners will be announced on September 16 during a ceremony at the Celebrate Saratoga event. Celebrate Saratoga—A Village Block Party will take place from 12-7 PM on Big Basin Way. Enjoy free entertainment, food, wine and beer tasting and more.
Some of the previous Citizens of the Year include Nancy Anderson (2008), Les Landin (2000) Marlene Duffin (1999), Mary Jeanne Fenn (1998), Warren Lampshire (1997). The first award was made in 1975 to Marilyn White.
Some of the previous Business Persons of the Year include Chris Oakes (2008), Ray Froess (2002), Judy Coulter (2001), Pearl Medeiros (1999). The first award was given in 1994 to Fran Andreson.
