The latest trend in film has arrived: a perfect unity between couture designer brands with the glossy pages of high fashion editorial and motion. These are the elements of the fashion film. The San Francisco International Fashion Film Festival will provide viewers a look at what fashion film is, as its own genre that has recently become more popular, as well as demonstrate how fashion film is being utilized creatively and strategically by brands. The collection of films this year will be literally a visual journey around the world lead by a wide gamut of fashion professionals as our guide.
The Filmmakers (partial list):
Eugenio Recuenco, MADRID • Vincent Gagliostro, PARIS • Sarah Silver, NEW YORK • Wing Shya, HONG KONG • Rusch Meyer, BERLIN • Monica Elkelv, LONDON • Stuart Locklear and J.S. Ingram, SAN FRANCISCO • Joost Vandebrug, AMSTERDAM • Julien Joyeux, PARIS • Álvaro de la Herrán, MADRID • Stewart Shining, NEW YORK • Philip Neal Martin, LONDON • Tobias Knipf, MUNICH
The festival is open to all and will hold three screenings throughout the evening. The event will include a highly ‘Avant-Garde’ fashion show installation by designers Joseph Domingo, Gail Ballesteros-Shrive, Herbert Williamson, Cana Klebanoff, Acta Non Verba’s Hector Manuel and Cari Borja. There will be a dance performance by Jillian Talbot from Shan-Yee Poon Ballet School.
SFIFFF will also feature a film from high school students as part of our wide selection of filmmakers, to encourage and educate young fashion talent and designers about the wonderful possibilities of fashion film. The evening will finish with a Q&A of attending directors and then the third and final special “Director’s Cut” screening.
