Description
When it comes to inexplicable lyrics, few have exceeded the "Say what ...?" awesomeness of Rush's Tom Sawyer (written with Pye Dubois), the "19th Greatest Hard Rock Song of All Time" (as chosen by VH1, and surely they know). Has anyone surpassed "He gets high on you/ And the energy you trade" (a premonition of cap and trade legislation?) or "Catch the witness, catch the wit/catch the spirit, catch the spit" (isn't that what drool buckets are for?). It is even more amazing when you learn that the song was inspired less by Mark Twain than by Ayn Rand, from Rush to Paul Ryan in one generation. And they are from Canada, no less.
