Effect International, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization is teaming up with marathoner and blogger, Emz, on September 12 and 13, 2013 to raise money for education. Emz will run 100 miles in a 24 hour period, or four marathons, in downtown San Francisco to raise money that will directly effect children from low income families in India.“Millions of children aren't being educated because they don't have the opportunity,” says Emz. “We all know the world has problems and sometimes we don't know how to solve them. I decided to treat this like every other problem in my life, and I'm going to run it off.” Emz is asking people to pledge twenty-five cents to a dollar for every mile she runs, which she will donate to Effect, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is pioneering low-cost private schools in India.
Emz will begin her run during the kick-off party at Rallypad (144 2nd St San Francisco) that goes from 7PM to 10PM on Sept 12. Tickets are $10 and include a drink. She will be running on Market Street and Yerba Buena Lane on Sept 13 from 7AM to 8PM. Donations will be appreciated -- she's running 100 miles!
Local celebrities and donors will run alongside Emz as pacers on a separate treadmill, freebies will be given throughout the day. Come and cheer her on and let's send some more kids to school in India!
