Description
Malian singer Rokia Traoré cannily combines her African traditional roots with classical influences (she has recorded with the Kronos Quartet, for instance) and jazz strains. Her striking stage demeanor is at one with her songs, as the lyrics and the beat are reinforced by her dancing. For this Stanford Lively Arts show, Traoré appears with her seven-piece backup band performing on a variety of familiar and unusual folk instruments.More Info
