ON AUGUST 11 the world lost one of its most brilliantly innovative artists when ROBIN WILLIAMS left us for the other side. His loss is being felt deeply everywhere but probably most deeply right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. As everyone knows by now, Robin called the Bay Area his home ever since the 1970s where his career as a genius stand-up comic exploded madly and rapidly, first on television, then on the big screen — where he immediately became a prolific presence to the delight of his millions of adoring fans.Robin Williams’ indelible imprint on the San Francisco film community is a proud and distinctive one. In that spirit, on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24, the Roxie Theater is holding a special memorial tribute featuring two of his best films: MOSCOW ON THE HUDSON (1984) and AWAKENINGS (1990). Both films will be presented in studio 35mm prints!
