Description
The Orca Sports Outdoor Adventure Movie Series presents a screening of the documentary film, Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story. This documentary sheds light on the astonishing true story of Jay DeMerit and his dreams of playing professional soccer in Europe. He then leaves for Europe with only $1500 and a backpack, eventually playing in Sunday park leagues and lower level division London clubs earning pennies a week. However, his determination would pay off as Jay DeMerit worked his way up to playing in English Premier League and then for the US National Team in the 2010 World Cup.
