Description
The Art House welcomes back Venezuelan vocalist Rennea Josefina Couttenye who bring us folk songs and favorites from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. A selection of bluesy tonadas, mellow boleros, melodious waltzes will contrast with fast paced beats that will make it hard for anyone to seat still. Among them, seldom heard upbeat joropo, 6/8 national folkloric dance/musical genre from her native country of Venezuela, tambores from afro-Venezuelan coastal areas and the more hip merengues caraqueños played in 5/8 and accompanied by a cheese grater. On solo guitar, Rennea’s delicate voice captures a stillness that draws the audience in every time, but when the piano and rhythm section join mixed with traditional instruments, you'll find it hard to keep from moving!More Info
