Remnants of San Francisco: Pieces of a Bygone City

Tuesday, October 9, 7:30pm
Jewish Community Center, 3200 California at Presidio

"What's the story here?" Join us for a fascinating architectural journey of San Francisco remnants with historian Christopher Pollock, author of "San Francisco's Golden Gate Park: A Thousand and Seventeen Acres of Stories" and the upcoming "Reel of San Francisco Stories: An Annotated Filmography of the Bay Area". Pollock will highlight fragments, including a Streamline Moderne brewery, Italianate firehouse, Romanesque Revival cathedral, a long-gone wholesale produce district, the carved granite frieze of walrus heads on the base of the Union Bank Building, the archway in the middle of the Lincoln Park Golf Links and a two-tone classic 1908 building on Market Street.

Bring your friends and neighbors and introduce them to SFMHS and all we have to offer them! Reservations not required. For more information, visite the website: http://www.sfhistory.org, or call (415) 537-1105.
