Description

Free Event: RSVP Required

Oakland is named for the coast live oak, but it was once home to some of the world's largest redwoods. We'll walk beneath the "youthful" decedents of those ancient giants and share some forest folklore and fascinating facts about California's state tree. We might even kiss a banana slug. This is a moderate hike of four to five miles with several hundred feet of elevation change, lead by Carolyn Schour.

Weather Policy:
Rain cancels.

Where to Meet:
We'll assemble near the Canyon Meadow Staging Area at the end of the paved road off the Redwood Gate entrance.

Leaders Note:
Bring water, lunch, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. If you have any questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or phone him at 415-543-6771 x321.
