Description
The Bay area-raised and educated artist Valerie Patten paints ghostly but graphic expositions of what she classifies as either urban, solitary or social sectors of life. With an MFA from San Jose State and numerous exhibitions under her belt, Patten's newest show, Reclusive Child, at Community School of Music and Arts will be a series of paintings inspired by German expressionist Paul Klee's painting, "Kind als Enseidler." Focusing on the relation between unconscious and subconscious, Patten's new show seeks to elicit unique responses from every viewer. Runs through Jul 10.
