RECESS, the new midday dance party brought to you by the merry pranksters at SunsetSF (Sea of Dreams, Silent Frisco, SF Funk Fest), aims squarely at the lethargic routines of round-bellied office workers and delirious dot-commers, prompting them to get ready to get sweaty...during the lunch hour.RECESS eschews treadmills in favor of tech house and lunch meetings in favor of DJ-dancefloor freedom at new club on the block, Monarch (Mission @ 6th St), which boasts the Void sound system recently rated best in the city (SF Chronicle; “The Top 10 Best Club Sound Systems in San Francisco”).
RECESS follows the lead of Swedish forebearer, Lunchbeat, which places the urgency of movement and freedom from the workplace as top provisions for its dedicated dancers.
The first installment of RECESS takes place on hump day, Wednesday, July 11, from 12-2pm. Resident DJ MATT HAZE and guest selector PROFESSOR BANG will provide the beats.
No cover will be charged for this inaugural edition and free vegetarian sandwiches will be provided so revelers don't have to forgo nourishment to get their boogie on and make it back to their desks on time.
