Description
When did love become a threat?As our lives are being affected by the opinions of voters throughout California and a semantic battle in the courts, it’s time for us to respond as individuals and artists, to remind people that no one can tell you who to love or how to love. Never underestimate the political power of public affection.
RAWdance’s mission is to perform works which expose an intimate, honest core, the essence of our relationships and identities. While we as individuals have been a part of the fight for marriage rights for all, "To Have and to Hold" is our company's public statement in support of equality. With an expanded cast of 12 dancers, we will bring passionate, visceral duets and large group PDAs to the heart of downtown San Francisco. The athletic dancing with be supported by readings of Bay Area poets Robert Andrew Perez and Cristobal McKinney.
For the day, RAWdance will be joined by photographers Chuin Phang and Andrew Ng, contributors to Do The Love Thing.
