Description
Not to be confused with the dueling guitars and drum machines of Ratatat, the San Francisco jazz group Ratatet is an electro-acoustic sextet led by drummer Alan Hall—drum program advisor at the California Jazz Conservatory. The band aim to meld elements of jazz, pop, funk, blues and some of the French impressionist style. The result is a smooth, laid back contemporary jazz. Their debut album, Arctic, is meant to evoke "a sense of wide expanse, adventure, loss and new discovery," according to the band's bio.
