Description
The Sanchez Adobe Docents invite visitors to experience life in the 1840s. This family day will focus on what life was like on a rancho in Mexican California.Dance to early California music.
Discover bygone trades.
Eat real rancho food.
Stamp leather and twine rope.
Make corn husk dolls and candles.
And more make-it-yourself crafts.
Debuting at the 2012 festivities was a carreta built for the Sanchez Adobe. A carreta or ox cart is a two-wheeled vehicle used to transport goods. In the 1840s, a carreta would have been useed on the Sanchez rancho to haul hides for the hide-and-tallow trade.
The Rancho Day Fiesta is held annually the third Saturday in September.
A living history event where visitors can make adobe bricks, stamp leather, dip candles, weave wheat and more. $1 suggested donation. Additional charge for food and crafts.
