Description
Hosts Cindy Emch and Mollena Williams welcome you to the adventuresome mayhem of the Queer Open Mic. This dynamic duo are committed to poetry, performance, and smutty hilarity every 2nd and 4th Friday of the monthThe Queer Open Mic has been running in San Francisco for four years and has just switched its venue to Modern Times Bookstore! Join us for this stellar open mic featuring poetry, creative writing, music, and more. All kinds of queers are welcome.
Proto-feminist and genderqueer in scope, QOM aims to combine the raunchy enthusiasm of the Hole in the Wall, the warmth and community of Ashkenaz, the unapologetic queer of the Bearded Lady, the radical politics of Caf Macondo and the sweet rhythms of El Rio to create a space for spoken word, poetry and performance that is multi cultural, multi gendered, completely inclusive and dynamic. Art is revolution, bring your spirit, your words, and your fierce to this rowdy and rollicking performance experience.
$1 - $5 donations benefit the featured reader. (because paying artists is IMPORTANT!)
All queers of all stripes are welcome and encouraged to perform one piece of awesome that is five minutes or less. Sign up is at 7:30, performances begin at 8pm.
PS – the hosts like it when you say hi if you’re new!
