Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Michael was given a front row seat to the world of electronic music at a young age. Having worked in several of the area record stores, including the now defunct yet highly influential Record Time, Michael was lucky enough to have access to the newest and freshest records coming out from the talented artists that Detroit is known for as well as from artists around the world.
Having since relocated to San Francisco, Michael finds himself involved in several contrasting projects that truly reflect the diverse range of his musical taste and DJ sets. White Label is a weekly happy hour dedicated to the newest house and techno sounds that’s held at Showdown on San Francisco’s gritty Sixth St. Done in conjunction with good friend the Worker, the two strive to bring the city the best possible start to the weekend. Afterglow is a monthly dedicated to the more cerebral side of electronic music (www.afterglowsf.com). Set on the first Sunday of the month at Nikki’s on Haight st, it’s meant as a wind down to the weekend and showcases the best local djs playing sounds they normally don’t get to play. Finally, Fedora is a deep house project that’s done in conjunction with fellow Midwestern transplant Matt Wilder. Together the two have dropped their surprising blend of jazzy and deep house on unsuspecting dancefloors.
