Description

Welcome the season with the San Francisco Bach Choir's traditional blend of charming carols and majestic works from early German masters Michael Praetorius and Heinrich Schütz. Multiple choirs will surround you with glorious music—both ancient and familiar—and brighten the winter darkness with candlelight, processions and joyful singing featuring soprano Erica Schuller.

Founded in 1937, The San Francisco Bach Choir has been an important part of the Bay Area’s cultural life for the past seven decades, and is one of the oldest continuously performing choirs in the western United States. The organization is dedicated to furthering the choral art by expanding the repertoire with rare early works and offering fresh perspectives on the masterpieces. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Corey Jamason, the musical focus is not only on the work of J. S. Bach, but also on the works of a variety of early choral masters from the 16th through the 18th centuries. Engaging modern sensibilities with the spirit of musical discovery, the Bach Choir uses period styles and instruments to bring new ideas from old music, and offers professional level performances to Bay Area audiences.
