PROCESS; A Silent Auction Benefiting the San Francisco State University Photography Program

INTRODUCING the 1st ANNUAL SILENT AUCTION, “PROCESS,” BENEFITING THE
 SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM
 
             Help students fight the education cutbacks at San Francisco State University by attending the opening night of, “PROCESS;” a silent auction taking place March 5th, 2010 from 7 to 11pm at the MIM Gallery, located at 935 Howard St. San Francisco, CA 94103. 
            PROCESS was created with the hope of raising money for the photography program by auctioning off the donated work of students, faculty, and professionals.  Funds will go towards insuring the departments future by focusing the program on its core goal of teaching in a fashion that has widely been fazed out at Universities across the state.
            Lewis DeSoto, head of the photography program and an accomplished and award winning photographer, will be present for the opening night along with a number of the artists who submitted their work.  The students of the program are a small community of artists who relish in the progression they see in their fellow classmates. The atmosphere that Mr. DeSoto has helped create in the program has shaped young minds that understand the value of education. The quality of education the University provides to its students can be seen in PROCESS’ collaborative efforts with SFSU alum and owner of MIM Gallery, Justin Young.
            As of lately, the state school system has been in dire straights. Coincidentally, the opening night of PROCESS is taking place the evening after a large budget cut protest at the Civic Center in San Francisco. Join us Friday night in the fight for art, with over 30 pieces being auctioned from Friday, March 5th to Sunday the 7th.  For the opening reception there will be complimentary drinks along with live music by the San Francisco State University Jazz band.
