MENLO PARK, Calif. -- The Portola Art Gallery presents “Japan Revisited” -- photographs by Frances Freyberg.

The vibrant color photographs feature landscapes, cityscapes, shrine scenes and portraits from Freyberg’s travels through Japan. Highlights include a pathway through thousands of red torii (shrine gates) leading to the top of Kyoto’s Mt. Inari-san; a river of irises in Kanazawa’s Kenroku-en garden; a bride and groom in traditional wedding costumes; and the charming post town of Narai, along the historic Nakasendo Highway.

In addition to signed and framed photographs, there will also be a variety of photo cards for sale.

Freyberg traveled through Japan in May 2013 with her father, Menlo Park resident Dr. Derek Freyberg, who studied there as a chemistry graduate student from New Zealand. Frances Freyberg of Menlo Park specializes in portraits of people, wildlife, nature and architecture from her travels to more than 60 countries.
