Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition featuring new paintings by Philip Buller opening Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

In this new body of work, Philip Buller explores the spaces and connections between figures in a single photograph. After happening upon the photograph of a crowded beach, Buller began to examine the individuals among the sea of shapes. Enjoying the tension between rigorously rendered realism and abstract paint manipulation, Buller paints the conscious and subconscious relationships between the one and the many.

Philip Buller has exhibited at the Elliott Louis Gallery, Vancouver, BC; California Museum of Art, Santa Rosa, CA; Susan Street Fine Art, Solana Beach, CA; Bank of America Headquarters, San Francisco, CA; and Alpha Gallery, Boston, MA. Buller received his MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now California College of the Arts) in 1994. This is his eighth exhibition at Andrea Schwartz Gallery.

Andrea Schwartz Gallery was established in 1982 and is located in the South of Market district of San Francisco. After years of leasing in SOMA, Andrea and Steve are proud to announce the purchase of their new gallery space, located at 545 – 4th Street. ASG exhibits contemporary work of mid-career artists from the Bay Area and across the country. ASG is a member of SFADA. Gallery Hours are Monday - Friday 9 - 5, Saturday 1 – 5.
