On Friday, July 24, Seattle’s KEXP, one of the most influential listener supported music radio stations in the country, will celebrate the Beastie Boys’ classic album “Paul’s Boutique” with 12-hours of programming (6 a.m. – 6 p.m.), featuring full playback of the album, sampled songs, special guests including John King and Mike Simpson of the Dust Brothers, exclusive interview content, and more. The broadcast can be heard at http://www.kexp.org.Timed with the 26th anniversary of “Paul’s Boutique,” Friday’s show will be an exploration of an album unlike anything KEXP – or any other radio station – has ever attempted, and will serve as the most detailed breakdown of the seminal hip hop album since it was recorded in 1989. To this point, no one has been able to determine the exact amount of sampled songs contained in the album, which is said to be in the hundreds, but following Friday’s broadcast we’ll be closer than ever to finding out.
