Description
One of the first classical accordionists to graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Paul Chamberlain will be performing in San Francisco as part of his current tour.Chamberlain was awarded a first class degree in classical accordion from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Whilst studying there he was awarded the acclaimed Governors Recital Prize, with a subsequent live performance broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Classics Unwrapped’ programme.
In 2011, Paul released his debut solo album entitled “Classical Accordion” featuring a mixture of transcriptions of works by J.S. Bach, Rameau, Moszkowski and Khachaturian, as well as original works by Alexander Nagayev and Franck Angelis.
Chamberlain’s musical ingenuity has already taken him across the world having performed at international music festivals such as Baltica Harmonica in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Sata-Häme Soi Accordion festival in Ikaalinen, Finland. Further to these he has also performed in France, Italy, Greece, and Bahrain, as well as part of groups that include the Paragon Ensemble and the Scottish Tango Ensemble.
This concert will open with Bach's famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor (BWV 565) and feature a programme of original works and transcriptions for accordion.
