passion among builders, architects and designers proving that saving is sexy
and that beautiful buildings are ones that don’t destroy our planet.

Passive House California (PHCA) is proud to screen two documentaries
chronicling the rise of the Passive House movement here in the United States.
We will screen ‘Passive Passion’ by Charlie Hoxie and ‘Passive House – a
Building Revolution’ from the folks at the Arthur Morgan Institute for Community
Solutions.

In Passive Passion, we meet the American builders hoping to open eyes with
ambitious projects, including the first Passive House apartment building in the
United States, as well as the European experts that helped launch the idea
decades ago and continue to improve upon it today.

Passive House — a Building Revolution! takes us through the beginning of
Passive House in America’s super-insulated houses of the 1970s. Although
abandoned here, people in Germany carried the movement forward and
today there are 25,000 such buildings in Europe. The film explains the energy
challenge and opportunity represented by buildings and why deep energy
retrofits to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emission for our 113 million
existing homes should be a national priority.
