Description

“Out of Print” seeks to recognize the destructive nature of censorship and to celebrate the printed page through rare, vintage, and banned books as well as through book arts (where the book is intended as a work of art in itself).

The opening reception for the show will feature numerous readings and talks on banned books as well as workshops that teach methods of screen printing and book binding. During the reception FREE food and drinks will be served, as well as LIVE jazz music and free giveaways. Before the reception from 4:30 - 6pm there will also be a Velro (Velvet Revolution) Reading series including a banned books themed Open Mic.

Other events during the exhibit include:
10/4 12-1pm Art Workshop: Book Binding and Book Arts (sign-up at the reception or via e-mail: [email protected] by 10/3 at 5pm)
10/4 1-2pm Writing Workshop - What's Your Story: Discovering Personal Narrative and History
10/9 5-7pm Velro Reading Series - Prose, poetry, and plays read by students and professors of SFSU
