Description
On Saturday, November 10, ATA Gallery’s OTHER CINEMA brings back, by popular demand, OPTRONICA ! This semi-annual "Live A/V" event is returning with a fresh roster of 8 performances and several single-channel works.Lori Varga opens a Pandora’s Box of 13 circuit-bent devices, mini-synth electronic toys available for audience use. Will Erokan ups the ante with his Collective Discarnate, manipulating audio and video to in fact hypnotize us (“brain entrainment”)!
Kerry Laitala leads us through the stereoscopic section of the show, using ChromaDepth glasses to explore the many dimensions of A-G classics (Jordan Belson, Mary Ellen Bute, et al.) as well as her own new work, in its world premiere.
PLUS Anne “Freddy” McGuire & Wobbly, with their new Recital, Lana Voronina’s electronica, David Cox’ Optigan And Apps, Tommy Becker’s Song for Elliott Jacques, Sylvia Schedelbauer’s digital-flicker feast Sea of Vapors (with live track by Jeff Surak), and Soda_Jerk’s succulent sample from their soon-coming Astro Black.
Consummating is LA artist Andre Perkowski’s live-ensemble performance to his Beach Boys-obsessed Endless Syncopation.
