Diablo Theatre Company opens its season with hi-jinks, high jacking, a little romance and a trip to the slammer as three young sailors on 24 hour leave sing and dance their way through the Big Apple. Diablo Theatre Company performers will be joined by professional dancers from Company C Contemporary Ballet. The collaboration will more than do justice to Leonard Bernstein's first musical score - the one that made New York, New York, famous - and the legendary Jerome Robbins' choreography. the 1944 Broadway hit was followed by the Oscar winning 1950 film, starring Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Ann Miller.
