Description

Ohlone Day returns the morning of October 4, timed nicely with “Indian Summer” celebrations in town. Four experienced educators will once again teach children about the first peoples of this area in the free 2-hour session. “Do you know the name of our local Ohlone here in Los Altos & Los Altos Hills? asks seasoned teacher and Museum docent Mary Kuperman. “They are called Puichon.” Ohlone Day ties to the school curriculum, but also makes note that descendants of our first peoples are among us today. “It’s a mistake to think they are gone,” adds volunteer Vicki Holman. “They and their culture are flourishing – it’s fascinating to explore.”
