Objects of Beauty: Contemporary Still Life Painting is a group show featuring our international and incredibly varied roster of esteemed still life painters. Works by Conor Walton (Ireland), David De Biasio (Italy), Dianne Gall (Australia), Jay Mercado (San Francisco), K. Henderson (USA), Ottorino De Lucchi (Italy), James Neil Hollingsworth (USA), and Hollis Dunlap (USA) serve to highlight the reinterpretation of this traditional genre under a contemporary lens. From the mundane to the luxurious, the symbolic and the casual, the objects take on new meaning while remaining firmly rooted in a 4,000 year old tradition. Many of the show’s works accentuate the customary opulence associated with the genre while others exhibit a more calculated and restrained drama. However, in all cases, whether painting a tuna fish can dripping in latex paint, or encapsulating the history of art in one 24 x 30 inch canvas, each of these extraordinary artists has offered us objects of extraordinary beauty for this exciting exhibition.More Info
