Description
David Gray is a highly accomplished realist painter who excels at this particular quick-sketch technique.This painting workshop is excellent for artists interested in realistic oil painting techniques. David teaches how to manage a traditional portrait painters' palette, and demonstrates his alla prima ("first stroke") style.
Students will be painting one-day portraits of three separate models over three days. Mornings will be an intimate demonstration session including direct painting techniques. Generous afternoon studio time will allow students to complete a portrait in a day.
This workshop condenses many of the skills taught in lengthy portrait painting courses, with a more impressionistic use of traditional painting techniques. It's a very expressive and energetic kind of painting, and David's teaching style reflects this.
