Description
This exhibit of small metal art – jewelry and small sculpture- starts Nov 21st. All the art in the show is sized 10 inches or less. It is a diverse collection of work – from sterling silver to cast iron, and a variety of approaches, from humorous “fool the eye” realism to elegant abstraction and colorful wearable art. An Opening Reception will be Wed Nov 28th 4:30-7 pm and a Closing Reception Sat Dec 15th 12-3 pm.24 Artists from Santa Clara and surrounding counties were selected for the exhibit, including instructors of metal art:
Dawn Nakinishi, of Cabrillo College
Jann Nunn of Sonoma State University
Ryan Carrington of San Jose State University
Patricia Hulin of Mission and Gavilan Colleges.
Four Mission College students are represented in the exhibit, having competed with artists from the greater Bay Area.
Juried by renowned metal smith Jack da Silva, who has taught metal arts and exhibited internationally. His work is in many collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Curated by Lynne Todaro, instructor of Metalsmithing and Metal Sculpture Casting at Mission College
