Palo-Alto based El Camino Youth Symphony is holding new member auditions for the 2016-2017 Season! ECYS offers six different orchestras as well as opportunities in chamber music for musicians of all levels. Start your musical journey in the entry-level orchestra Chamber Players or challenge yourself in the prestigious Senior Symphony!


ECYS has openings at all levels for the 2016-17 Season!


The Senior Symphony Orchestra, ECYS’s premiere ensemble conducted by Dr. Jindong Cai, performs professional-level repertoire and hosts internationally recognized guest artists. The group holds a summer retreat and tours ever other summer.

The Sinfonietta Orchestra, led by John Eells, prepares advanced string, wind, and brass players for the Senior Orchestra.

The El Camino Wind Orchestra, Dr. Richard Roper, conductor, challenges woodwinds, brass, and percussionists with classical and modern repertoire. Students at this level have typically had 3+ years of lessons.

The Galbraith Honor Strings, with conductor Mariya Borozina, is an intermediate, all-string group that, in addition to ensemble training, offers talented young violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists special sectional coaching to develop technique and musicality.

The Camerata Orchestra, under direction of Dr. Michail Gelfandbein, is a beginning-intermediate full orchestra for winds and string players who are still learning, but have had 2+ years of lessons and previous ensemble experience.

The Chamber Players Orchestra, Dr. Michail Gelfandbein, conductor, is the perfect first orchestra for beginning strings and wind players with 1+ years of lessons.

Interested applicants, ages 6-18, with at least one year of private lessons are encouraged to apply. For additional information, the application, and audition requirements, please visit http://www.ecys.org.

Audition slots fill up quickly, please submit your application by late February, 2016 to guarantee yourself an appointment. Auditions will be held in March and April, 2016.
