Description

On June 22, Neon Vinyl will hold the next of their popular new club nights- celebrating SF’s Pride Party- that will keep you smiling throughout the month. Neon Vinyl’s monthly party at the Ambassador combines future-retro sounds and top Bay Area DJs. Partnering with Public Works, Neon Vinyl will present three DJs, ENSO (Hollister Records/ East Van Digital), Kool Karlo (Damn Gina!), and Ilya (Detroit) who will fuse classic dance tracks with contemporary electronic dance music. Doors open at 10pm; admission is free.
The co-host of Neon Vinyl, Aaron Paul, holds the monthly party in various popular nightclubs, to bring a fresh, fun night. “Club nights should by fun, euphoric, and a little bit silly. I love parties where the DJ’s genre hop and keep the dance floor guessing," says Paul. “Neon Vinyl’s party goers are going to be crushing on our DJ’s big-time.”
Known for their intricately-crafted sets and impassioned live performance, DJ duo Enso (Derrick Calloway and Seth Warrick) blends together the gritty bass lines of electro with the sweeping melodies of progressive house. “Our music comes from the crowd’s infectious attitudes,” Calloway states. The duo broke into the scene in 2010 with their award-winning remix of Sleigh Bells’ hit single, “Run the Heart”.
Considered by SF Station’s club music blog, Pulse, to be one of San Francisco’s “dance club kings” DJ Kool Karlo has become a mainstay in live music across the city and around the Bay Area. His versatile style is apparent in the many different parties he regularly performs. Karlo’s weekly party, Damn Gina!, has made a name for itself at Ambassador and the Shattuck Down Low; as well, he maintains a regular presence, blowing up the scene at Hi-Fi, Laszlo, Butter and Milk.
For the past five years, DJ Ilya has been immersed in the local nightlife scene, having created a fondness for San Francisco’s vibrant dance music culture. He takes inspiration from old mixtapes by disco legends such as Ron Hardy, Larry Levan, Frankie Knickles, and Francois Kevorkian. Today, Ilya has made a name for himself as a stalwart of the under ground set, and his sets are always a reflection of his need to defy musical trends and restrictions.
