Dig the groove of jazz blues funk on an eight-string guitar.Nate Lopez has been playing in the Bay Area and Wine Country for more than a decade at venues from COPIA in Napa to The Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz. He has been featured on KRSH, KBBF, and KGGV. Nate studied Jazz and Classical music at Solano College before studying North Indian Classical Music at the Ali Akbar College of music. Nate has always been surrounded by music, his mother often sang and played piano and was always encouraged creativity. His Uncle Ricardo was an incredible Mexican folk guitarist, exposing Nate to two handed tapping, hammer-ons, and many other guitar styles. After his uncle passed in 1992, his guitar made its way to Nate, whose passion for guitar flourished from that point on, included learning bass and eventually the Novax 8 string hybrid bass/guitar. Over the years, Nate has acquired an array of musical interests and skills, and is always exploring new sounds and experiences. "Extended range 7 and 8 string guitars allow me to play the bass, chords, and melody simultaneously. It can be a challenge, but it's always rewarding."
