Description
Nancy Nowacek discusses her work and the installation at San Jose State University entitled In Space. In this exhibition, developed in conjunction with the 2012 ZERO1 Biennial, Nancy Nowacek has materially modified the floor of the Natalie and James Thompson Art Gallery, turning it into a variegated geography that represents the unique characteristics of Silicon Valley. Her lecture will explain how the exhibit transposes the legendary abstract qualities often ascribed to Silicon Valley, from intense competition to rugged individualism to dogged genius, as well as how viewers will be confronted by a slippery and unsure terrain as they move through the work.
