Description
Subotnick is hailed as one of the pioneers in the development of electronic music and multimedia performance mixing computer-based compositions with live electronic processing. In the early 1960s, Subotnick taught at Mills College and cofounded the San Francisco Tape Music Center. For this performance he reworks one of his most famous recordings, Silver Apples of the Moon, originally released in 1967, a landmark analog synthesizer composition created on the Buchla modular synthesizer by design legend Don Buchla of Berkeley. Bay Area video artist SUE-C accompanies Subotnik onstage to present her unique handmade imagery, creating a real-time live cinema experience that fuses photographs, drawings, models, and interactive lighting effects.$10 general; $7 SFMOMA members, students, and seniors.
