Tonight is a benefit for SAVE KUSF, a group that is imploring the FCC to block the sale, the closure of which has been encouragingly held up for over one year. Tonight is a benifit to help restore an essential voice of the San Francisco Bay Area to the air. So as Brad's mom strongly encourages: come rock like a f*** in’ maniac! The monks were 5 American GI’s in cold war Germany who billed themselves as the anti-Beatles; they were heavy on feedback, nihilism and electrical banjo. Dietmar Post’s genre-blending doc illustrates the pop music phenomenon in its political, social and cultural historic contexts, while also revealing the monks project as the first marriage between art and popular music, months before Andy Warhol showed up with the Velvet Underground.
