Woods refers to his style of music as "rock-a-boogie," incorporating elements of the 1940's and 1950's jump blues style. Mitch Woods began his career playing piano in New York clubs before moving to San Francisco in 1971 to continue his music career. He released his debut album with his Rocket 88's in 1984, and continues to record and perform regularly today.
